Welcome to Golden Retreat Kennels! We are excited to get to know you and add you to our family!

Golden Retreat Kennels was founded in 1985 by Wes & Nadine Trch, who happily ran the facility until their retirement in 2016.

Christina & Greg Niels were honored to purchase and continue the growth of Golden Retreat Kennels in 2016. Since 2016 they have added on many new service and upgrades to the facility and continue to always put what is best for your pet’s 1st.

Christina Niels has been surrounded by animals her entire life. She began working at a pet store at the age of 11. She owned & operated her own pet store for 7 years before moving on to manage Pasadena’s Best Pet store. She handles all operations at this pet store from day care, to boarding, to grooming, to pet nutrition. Christina has spent many years dedicated to the enrichment of our 4 legged family members. She is a certified pet groomer who specializes in gentle and comforting care, certified positive reinforcement dog trainer and is extremely well versed in pet nutrition. Christina also Founded Mixed Mutts Animal Rescue in 2010.

Greg Niels has been an avid pet lover for as long as he can remember. Co-running the animal rescue with Christina means he has seen and handled more dogs than he can count. Greg is involved in every aspect of Golden Retreat Kennels. His immense creativity not only allows him to make modern changes to Golden Retreat such as their logo and website, but allows him to come up with creative solutions to any situation that may arise. Greg handles everything from physical labor(he is a very capable handyman) to feeding and providing special care to those animals that may need it.

Ryker & Raige Niels are the toddlers in training. Though Ryker is already some form of a dog whisper even our shyest visitors take to him first.
